DHL launches International Day Definite Service to the Baltics

DHL has expanded its European overland transport network by launching a day definite service between Europe and the Baltics.

The road-based Eurapid service is available for shipments up to 2,500 kgs to and from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. With the introduction of the three Baltic countries, DHL now offers the service across 21 countries in Western, Central and Eastern Europe. It offers transit times of three to five days plus daily line-haul departures. This provides an extra competitive edge to the new DHL service.

The three Baltic countries offer considerable potential for future growth in the logistics market as accession to the European Union (EU), on May 1st 2004, has contributed to the emergence of a stable and dynamic economic environment. DHL's new service offering was developed with a view both to the firm trade relations between the Baltics and Europe, where DHL already has a strong market position, and in response to customers' demands for a reliable export and import services to and from the Baltics.

Operations include the transport of general cargo shipments to and from the Tallinn gateway, the capitol of Estonia. Tallinn serves as the entry point for the destination terminals of Riga and Vilnius. Customers of the Eurapid service benefit from the convenience of one of the largest self-operating networks on the continent.
