DHL wins Express and Mail Operator of the Year and IT Innovation awards
DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, received the highly coveted Express and Mail Operator of the Year Award and the IT Innovation Award at the Asia Logistics Award Ceremony held in Singapore on 25 September 2003.
Organised by Lloyd's Freight Transport Buyer Asia (FTB Asia), the Asia Logistics Awards are based on votes casted by readers of Lloyd's FTB Asia, and the Asian readerships of Containerisation International and International Freighting Weekly.
Mr. Peter Landsiedel, Chief Executive Officer - Asia Pacific, DHL Danzas Air & Ocean, and Mr. Charlie Dobbie, Operations Director - Asia Pacific, DHL Express, were on hand to receive the Awards.
DHL, a second time winner of the Express and Mail Operator of the Year Award, outperformed other competitors on the strength of its coverage in the region, their unique understanding of the markets, and the outstanding quality of its service.
DHL also received the IT Innovation Award for its outstanding work in the development of IT solutions to assist customers with handling their logistics needs and bringing better synergies to its operations in Asia. The Company is constantly at the forefront of IT development. DHL Express has invested US$350 million in global IT projects including a US$52 million Asia Pacific Information Center in Malaysia's Cyberjaya area. Another example is DHL Danzas Air & Ocean recently opened US$7.9 million IT-support Logistics Center in Puchong, Malaysia.
